Guest Post: Trade Grades by J5

Subject: The “Big”ger Apple

Knicks get: (from Denver) Carmelo Anthony, Chauncey Billups, Anthony Carter, Renaldo Blackman, Sheldon Williams, (from Minnestoa) Corey Brewer

Yes, the Knicks gave up A LOT of talent but bottom line, they’ve added a Superstar to the mix. The “BUZZ” is back in the Garden. Speaking of “BUZZ” look for the Knicks to chase Hornets’ guard Chris Paul in 2012 to join super forces with Melo and Amar’e.

Grade = A- , with an aging Chauncey Billups and lack of depth on the bench, the Knicks organization has huge holes to fill.

Nuggets get: (from NY) Danilo Gallinari, Raymond Felton, Timofey Mozgov, 2014 1st Round Draft Pick & 2012 / 2013 2nd Round pick and cash.

With the loss of superstar Carmelo Anthony, the Nuggets must truly feel a “mile high” away from the Larry O’Brien trophy. Denver should not fret, Danilo Gallinari has the upside and potential to be similar or at least close to Dirk Nowitzki.

Grade = B, at least they got something back rather than nothing (in my opinion Melo did them a favor). The Denver line up now loaded with a B-grade players.

Timberwolves get: (from NY) Eddy Curry & Anthony Randolph

T-Wolves acquire two NBA busts. One positive is that they picked up Eddy Curry’s expiring contract ending at the end of the season.

Grade = NR (not relevant) because no one really cares.

Last week, Amar’e Stoudemire’s made headlines when he said that locked-out NBA players should form their own league. Though chances are remote this will actually happen, it does give an excuse to showcase this great photo from the 1976 ABA Playoffs of Julius Erving grabbing a rebound. This was the ABA’s final season before merging with the NBA. (John Hanlon/SI)
